Yr 7 NAIDOC Incursion

Year 7's had the richness of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islands cultures revealed to them in KADUL, a presentation by Ryka Ali and his grandmother, Cindy. Various instruments, artifacts and costumes specific to the two cultures were presented and explained to the students.

Some enthusiastic volunteers helped to present the interactive dances and a couple of student volunteers were ‘painted up’ with ochre. Several boys tried their hand at playing the didgeridoo after Ryka had given a demonstration of the amazing sounds that it can create. Although not every student was able to be on stage, everybody was engaged and entertained, which was demonstrated in the wide audience participation throughout the presentation.
