Year 9 Italian Activity Day

Year 9 Italian Activity Day

This week the Year 9 Italian students enjoyed a fun filled activity day at the St Cecilia Church in Floreat. Everyone wore free dress and brought an Italian themed snack to share for morning tea or a drink to share for lunch. We started the day with icebreakers in Italian. We then broke into small groups to help prepare and cook lunch. Signora Malu taught us how to make pasta from scratch. Meanwhile, others made plasticine representations of Italy and played Italian “Guess Who”. We learnt how to set up an Italian dinner table then ate our lunch. The pasta was delicious and the sauce Signora Malu made was deliziosa! Many students had seconds and even third serves. We had Tirimasù for dessert which were magnifici! We finished the day with an activity, where we attempted to make mini-films of ourselves using Italian gestures in a conversation and did “warm fuzzies”, writing compliments for each other.

A special thanks to Signorina Buhagiar and Signora Sampson for organising and supervising the day, and to Signora Malu for teaching us how to make pasta! We hope that in future this activity day will continue to educate and bring smiles to the Italian students at Newman College.

Ci siamo divertiti un sacco! We had a great time!
