Year 7 Camp Highlights

Last week (week 2) our Year 7 students participated in a 3-day camp at Woodman Point and a 2-day alternative Learning program based at school.
Camp
Students were allocated into groups within their Guilds and experienced many activities over the course of the 3 days; Team building games, Archery, Surf Life Saving, Surf Ski / Raft Building, Rock Climbing, Flying Fox, Orienteering, Kite making and Search and Rescue. These activities were designed to challenge individuals and groups to accomplish these tasks. Skills of team work, cooperation, communication, listening and reflection were essential for students to succeed.
School Learning Program
Students were involved in a 1-day Retreat program where the focus was on ‘Our College Story’. The other day, students were involved in further IT development, participation in maths games outside the classroom, a Career development lesson and an organisation / communication session.
By all reports, the students had lots of fun both in school and at camp. May I take this opportunity to thank the Staff and Students for their participation in this Camp Week. Lots of effort goes into organising and running these programs – by my observations and feedback received, the students enjoyed and benefited immensely from these opportunities presented to them.
