Year 7 Art and Philosophy Day Excursion

Last Friday, four Year 7 students from the Lumen "Big Thinking" elective course were selected to participate in the annual Art and Philosophy Day, held at the Art Gallery of Western Australia.

We each worked in groups with students from many other schools to look at different paintings from the “Unknown Land” Exhibition and explore philosophical questions related to each painting. At the end of the day each group had the chance to present a five-minute speech that answered their “mystery question”. We all had 45 minutes to decide on an answer and find supporting evidence from paintings in the gallery. Throughout the day we all made new friends, got to think outside the box and had lots of fun, it was a great way to end the school week!

On behalf of the four Year 7s, I’d like to thank Mr Richards for taking us on the excursion and for giving us the opportunity to attend.
