Year 12 Final Assembly and Valedictory Ceremony

Each year the Valedictory Ceremony formally concludes the Year 12 College program. Students who have fulfilled the requirements for Newman College graduation are eligible to be awarded a Newman College Graduation Certificate and a Testimonial, both of which will be distributed at the Valedictory Ceremony on Thursday 20 October.

This year we are very excited to be able to hold the Valedictory Ceremony at home, in the Marist Auditorium. We have planned a few events on this day to give our Year 12 students the opportunity to share in this momentous occasion with their peers, family and the whole school community.

Program for Thursday 20 October 2016

  • 9.00am to 10.30am: Whole School Assembly in the Gymnasium
  • 11.00am to 1.00pm: Valedictory Ceremony Rehearsals in the Auditorium
  • 4.45pm to 6.15pm: Year 12 Family Mass in the Gymnasium (for 5.00pm start)
  • 6.45pm to 8.00pm: Valedictory Ceremony in the Auditorium
  • 8.00pm to 9.30pm: Supper in Founders Court and Professional Photographs.

Whole School Assembly

Year 12 students will need to arrive to school before 8.40am and go straight to the hockey oval to line up in their guilds in preparation for their farewell assembly. They are required to wear their school trousers/skirt and school shirt. Blazers and ties do not need to be worn to this whole school assembly.

Valedictory Ceremony Rehearsals

Following the assembly, Year 12 students will remain on campus to attend the rehearsals for the Valedictory Ceremony. Lunch will be provided and rehearsals are scheduled to finish by 1.00pm. Students will be free to leave at this time to prepare for the Family Mass and Valedictory Ceremony.

Year 12 Family Mass

The Year 12 Family Mass will commence the formal Valedictory Celebrations. We would like to extend this invitation to the Year 12 student and 5 family members to come along and share in the Family Mass being held in the College Gymnasium. Year 12 students are required to be in their full winter uniform with blazer and tie and will be seated with their families. No ticketed seating for the Mass.

Valedictory Ceremony

Following the Family Mass, we invite 3 guests to attend the Valedictory Ceremony in the Auditorium. For those family members who cannot be catered for in the Auditorium are welcome to remain in the Founders Court, where we will have the ceremony streamed on a large screen. The information for ticket collection will be emailed out to you on Friday 26 August. There is no charge for the tickets. (maximum 3 tickets per family, Year 12 students will be seated on stage and do not require a ticket).

Full winter college uniform, including a blazer and tie, is the required dress for the evening.

Supper will be served in Founders Court following the ceremony. A photographer will be available during this time if you would like a professional photograph taken.
