Year 12 ATAR Kalgoorlie Excursion Highlights

Year 12 ATAR Earth and Environmental Science students caught gold fever during their recent excursion to Kalgoorlie and the "Golden Mile”. The students experienced a tour of the super-pit, saw first-hand the process of exploration, mining, and mine management at Paddington Operations. Additionally, there was an inspection of the core library at the WA Geological Survey, a presentation by students at the WA School of Mines, and geological mapping exercises at important outcrops in the WA Goldfields. The trip was a highlight of the Year 12 EES course and an invaluable experience for all of the students. Many of the students will probably now be considering becoming exploration geologists, environmental officers or even mine managers, judging by how much they enjoyed the whole experience!
