Year 11 Science Experience

Year 11 Science Experience

On Wednesday 24 May, seven Year 11 Science students did a superb job of being the guest speakers at the recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay on their recent UWA Science Experience.

Together Beth Redwoood, Sarah Ranieri, Catherine Jamieson, Jessica Gugliotta, Liam Street, Madeleine Thompson and Rose Troon presented the highlights of their three day program of activities at UWA last January, which was aimed at promoting awareness and understanding of science, scientific research and having fun with like minded students. Each student described their own experience and how it has helped them become aware of the possibilities that await them in the field of science. The students were appreciative of the generous sponsorship provided by the Rotary Club of Freshwater Bay to attend the program. The presence of their parents at the event was great to see and certainly helped calm the students nerves!

The Science Experience is a well established and rewarding 3-4 day program for enthusiastic science students in Years 9 and 10, which is hosted by the Perth Universities during the summer holidays. Each year, the Science Department promotes this extra curricular activity and endeavours to support student attendance, with the help of Rotary Clubs.
