Year 11 Remar Blue Solidarity Camp

The Year 11 Blue Solidarity camp is based on the foundation of working in order to be the ‘hands and feet of Christ’. It aims to give the rowers an opportunity to experience ‘service’ in a prolonged context, whilst deepening their experience of communal living within a Christian context. At Newman College we travel to Mullewa, to spend a week living at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary School, where the students cook all meals and organise their days as a group. They work along side the community as they prepare and run the Mullewa Show. The students also assist in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary School, the founders cemetery providing crosses (which they have made themselves) to the unmarked graves. The experience encourages exchange of ‘wisdom and skills’ between both the caravel and the community it is serving and embraces the Marist value of simplicity in all aspects.
