Top Scientist visits Newman College

Yesterday the College welcomed Professor Lyn Beazley AO FTSE who came to speak to the Year 9's about the exciting career opportunities in the field of Science.
Professor Beazley is a neuroscientist, educator and science ambassador and was Chief Scientist of Western Australia from 2006 to 2013.
Prof Beazley engaged with the students, sharing her enthusiasm for Science and showing them how it fits into society, industry, government and community. After outlining a number of employment opportunities, Prof Beazley concluded by saying "My tip to you is if you know what you want to do and you work hard, you can really make a difference. WA's a great place to study science, if not the best place in the world. We need more young, passionate people to support our precious earth".
In November 2014 Prof Beazley was announced as the Western Australian winner in the Australian of the Year Award for 2015. She is a national finalist for the Australian of the Year Award, which will be awarded in January 2015.
