Term 2 Week 2: From the Deputy Principal | Learning and Staff Development

Vision for Learning
On Thursday and Friday this week, school leaders and teachers leading the Vision for Learning gathered together with the University of Southern Queensland. We are continuing the development phase of our schoolwide pedagogy, so that Shine through Discovery is experienced by every student on their learning pathway. I thank the team for their commitment and contribution to our Vision for Learning and for their leadership as we strive to ensure the principles of our vision are lived.

NAPLAN testing is scheduled from 9 - 11 May for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Classroom teachers and Leaders of Wellbeing are working with students to ensure that they organised and prepared for these assessments. The College analyses the data to identify areas of our curriculum plan that need attention and also to identify appropriate support strategies and resources to address areas for improvement. The data is also used to track that individual students are progressing and to record their growth. Further information can be found at or with your classroom teacher.

At Newman College, we are committed to providing the highest level of care to our students while they are on campus, attending an excursion or undertaking an activity. To ensure our medical and contact information is accurate, easily updated and accessible, we have partnered with Consent2Go for our excursion planning and risk assessment processes. To collect this information, you will receive an email with a link requesting details. I thank you in advance for completing the electronic form with the information.
