Term 1 Week 2: From the Principal

2017 The Year Ahead

We have so much to look forward to in 2017. The academic year has started exceptionally well with both teachers and students excited and energised by the opportunities for personal and collective growth. Our expectation for each student and teacher is that they strive for excellence, harnessing their gifts and talents. We will challenge, animate, support and walk with our students as they navigate their place in the world. I encourage all students to take the time to reflect on their personal goals for their learning; moreover, seek to find opportunities within the College to participate in activities that will be engaging and challenging. This week, for example, the Homework Club commenced at the Marcellin Campus. As stated, it is now held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 3.30pm-6.00pm on the Marcellin Campus. At the Lavalla Campus, from Week 3, Homework Club will be open on Wednesdays from 3.30pm-4.30pm.

PK-12 Inaugural Family Mass
We look forward to the PK-12 Inaugural Family Mass on Wednesday 22 February 2017. By now, all families would have received a detailed letter concerning this wonderful celebration.

Newman Parent Consultative Committee (NPCC)
Our first meeting for 2017 will be held this Monday night 13 February 2017 at the Lavalla Campus Multi-purpose rooms from 7.00pm-8.30pm. Members of the College's Senior Leadership Team look forward to presenting the 2017 Annual School Improvement Plan Goals and gathering input from families.

The NPCC is an important space for a collaboration of ideas. It is also an opportunity to meet parents who are engaged in facilitating our parent groups. These groups for 2017 are as follows: Primary Social Group; Friends of Music; and Newman Arts Festival Committee. All are most welcome!
