Term 1 Week 10: From the Head of Secondary

Thank you to Parents, Teachers and Students for making the Years 7 and 8 Parent/Teacher Interviews a very successful process.

I spoke to the Years 11 and 12 students at assembly last week about attendance. The current Years 11 and 12 group attendance sits at about 95.5%. This level of attendance corresponds to 1 ½ weeks of missed lessons per year, or nearly a term of missed lessons over the period of Secondary School.

Students should be at school every day unless there is a valid reason. I strongly discourage the practice of students staying home to catch up on assignments or study for tests. These practices encourage poor study habits and preparation.

Return to Term 2

Term 2 commences at 8.45am on Wednesday 26 April and all students are to wear full academic winter uniform upon return. The winter uniform requirements are published in the Student Diary, (pages 14 and 15). I would like to draw your attention to some points;

1. Years 10/11/12 students must wear a blazer that has the contrast trim.
2. Boys shirts must be tucked in.
3. Girls skirts must be on the knee.
4. Shoes must be black leather lace-up (no boot style, or platform soles or suede). The wearing of ‘Vans’ type casual shoes is not permitted.
5. Hair must be clean, neat and tidy. Hair should not be long enough that the fringe falls over the eyebrows. Hair should be of a consistent length all over (e.g. no undercuts, no long sweeps.)

Students are reminded that there is an Anzac Day Liturgy in the Founders Court during PCG on Wednesday 26 April commencing at 11.30am.

Term 1 has been an extremely busy term and I hope the students have a restful and refreshing break.
