Telethon Kids Institute Research

Community Involvement in Research and School Partnerships

The Telethon Kids Institute in Subiaco, within the Paediatric Respiratory Physiology (Kids Lung Health) Group currently require the help and assistance of children aged between 3 and 12 years old for various studies looking at improving the lung health of children with asthma, cystic fibrosis as well as other conditions. Without the help of healthy children the Institute is not able to understand the difference between health and disease, which is integral to the research. The studies are easy and good fun and are run by experienced researchers.

Show bags of goodies are given to the children as a thank you and many parents choose to enrol their kids in these studies because it is informative to children with extracurricular interests. Many of the children have an interest in science or medicine and gain a lot from the interactions with the scientist and doctors.
