ShopFront Chefs

“Respect for the human person considers the other ‘another self.’ It presupposes respect for the fundamental rights that flow from the dignity intrinsic of the person” - The Catechism of the Catholic Church #1944

On Monday 19 June, the Remar Blue Caravel will be undertaking a ministry opportunity to support the work of one of our significant Catholic Archdiocesan agencies, The ShopFront. The ShopFront seeks to create a place where every person is respected and treated with equal dignity. The ShopFront offers assistance in a spirit of solidarity with those in need, a relaxed and homely environment where all people feel welcome, and is serviced predominantly by volunteers.

As part of extending their service beyond Newman College, our Year 11 Remar students will be cooking and preparing up to 500 meals to support those who visit The ShopFront. Newman College has a proud tradition of undertaking ShopFront Chefs each year, and we look forward to reaching out again in 2017. The College will be seeking donations from families for the 4 recipes that our Year 11 students will be preparing.

Thank you to Miss O’Mahony (Remar Coordinator), Br Terry (Campus Minister), Mrs Bramanto and Mr Robinett (Caravel Helms) for their support of this significant ministry of outreach from our Remar Blue Caravel.

Daniel Lynch, Deputy Principal Mission and Catholic Identity
