Remar Participation in the Bankwest Gallipoli Run

During the School Holidays, nine blue rowers from the Year 11 Remar Caravel were up bright and early, despite the rain at Synergy Parklands, Kings Park, to participate in this year's Bankwest Gallipoli Run.

Legacy, the foundation for which we partook in the event, is a major not-for-profit organisation that is supported annually using funds to care for incapacitated or deceased veterans and their families. In the lead up to ANZAC Day, the message of our diggers and the sacrifice and values they made and continue to dedicate themselves to is very close to the heart of all Australians. Showing our support and giving our time to help the continuing significant social work of Legacy gifted us with the opportunity to be active in following the Marist values of Service and Presence and the values of our Australian identity such as mateship and love of neighbour; all which reflect the heart of our Remar Caravels ideology.

The morning culminated as an event that left our ankles covered in mud, shirts plastered by the rain and beaming grins from ear to ear, as a result of the satisfaction of taking part in something that has made a difference to the lives of others. Thank you Mikayla Sargeant, Julie O'Donoghue, Louisa Beattie, Julia Diamond, Mackensey Cantelo, Sophie Lofthouse, Kelly Foo, Ellen Meagher for taking part in this important event.
