Movie Night
Last Saturday night several hundred children and their families enjoyed a balmy evening under the stars at the Marian Campus with a picnic dinner followed by the children’s movie 'Epic'. It was a lovely evening organised by the very supportive parents of the Auxiliary Committee.

Parents Auxiliary
The Auxiliary conducted its annual AGM last week and I am delighted to announce the following 2014 Committee Members:

President Alison Taylor
Secretary Amanda Kasperek
Treasurer Deb Travaglia
Property Manager Pauline Sampson
Social Events Coordinator Linda Clark
Bake and Drop Coordinator Rebecca Trettell
Publicity Coordinator Penny Offenburg

Committee members also include: Isobel Ballinger, Genevieve Newman and Cindy McCullough.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognise the work of two of the retiring members of the Auxiliary, Tina Chamberlain and John McKenzie. Both members were office bearers and very involved and committed to building the Newman College community.

New members are always welcome. Please contact the office if you are interested in joining the Auxiliary.

P & F Annual General Meeting
The P & F AGM is on Monday evening 10 March at 7.30pm at the Marian Campus. All families are invited to attend.

Parent Information Evenings
Thank you to all the parents who came along to the parent information evenings the last few weeks. The partnership between home and school is very important for the children in their educational experience.

Parents of students in Years 3 and 5 will have received an information leaflet explaining the NAPLAN assessments last Monday. NAPLAN takes place in May and is an annual event that the students take part in. The best approach is to treat this time as just an event that happens and it not something to be upset over or even to dwell on too much. The teachers do give the students an opportunity to try previous assessments just to be familiar with the format. This is particularly important for the Year 3 students as it an unfamiliar process and format and very different to any they have experienced previously.
