Newman System of Schools 40th Anniversary

This week marks the 40th Anniversary of the beginning of the Newman System of Schools which brought together Brigidine, Marist and Siena Colleges to compose a Catholic Secondary College dedicated to the Christian Education of young people.

The original planned configuration in 1977 was:
• Newman Senior College, Churchlands, as a co-educational school in Years 11 and 12.
• Newman Marist College, Floreat Park, as a boys only school in Years 8, 9 and 10
• Newman Siena High School, Doubleview, as a girls only school in Years 8, 9 and 10.

Brother Timothy McDonald was the Founding Headmaster of Newman Senior College.

A new College crest was designed and Cardinal John Henry Newman’s personal motto was adopted by the College: Through Shadows and Images to Truth
