Newman College SmartRider Card Process 2015

Newman College is a participating school for School SmartRider cards.
The College will supply each Year 7 and new Year 8 – 12 students with an initial free SmartRider.? All students using public transport have the option to use a concession card, buy a concession ticket or use their School SmartRider.? Besides using the card for transport, the School SmartRider Card will also be used for printing and borrowing library resources.?
School SmartRider Cards provide a 50c fare for students to travel to and from home, regardless of the number of zones a student travels or how long their trip is.? The 50c fare applies on the weekend and holidays during the school year. During the Christmas break, the card automatically reverts to billing a concession fare.? At the start of the next school year, the 50c ticket begins again automatically.?
The SmartRider Card will have the school logo, a photograph of the student and any travel credit that is added by the student as well as a separate printing account added by the College IT Department. While students are waiting for their school SmartRider, they need to use a normal concession card for Transperth travel or purchase a standard concession ticket on the bus/train. If students wish, a Temporary Student Permit card is available from the library as proof of age for a concession ticket.?
Each new student had their photograph taken this morning. It may take up to one week for the cards to be created and returned to the College. The Library staff will issue cards to students via PCG.
