Maths Week Activities on the Marcellin Campus

In week 8 we celebrated Maths Week on the Marcellin Campus. Thanks to all the PCG’s who gave the daily quiz a go – I’m sure you have gained a few extra neurons or at least linked a few more synapses. The winning PCGs were: CA07, TM08, CH09, MA10, CA11, MC12 – well done! Also CA07 was the overall winning PCG with a perfect score. Runner Up Guilds were: MC07, MC08, TM09, CA10, TM11 and MA12 – great effort. Chocolates are on the way to all these Guilds. The Camara Guild took out honours for best Guild with Mackillop runner-up, and Year 12 was the best performed Year group by the narrowest of margins over the Yr 9’s – well done to all.
Other points of interest: Damon Beveridge can throw a protractor over 41metres – this is about the length of the C block corridor – so if you are at the door to C24 and want to borrow a protractor from the Maths office Damon could express deliver it! Eloise Sosa stretched a lollie snake to 80cm, Tia Schreier ripped the mintie wrapper to a length of 138cm, and Ethan Persse regurgitated 108 decimal places of pi.
Finally congratulations to Luca Covino, Damon Bevridge and the Johnson triplets – Mary, Jane and Anne who were winners of the weekly puzzle sheet – they all win movie passes.
Thanks to all who took part (and ate lots of chocolates).
Bernie Roberts, Head of Mathematics
