PRIMARY SCHOOL
Book Week Incursion
On Monday 11 August, to celebrate Book Week, the students at Lavalla attended an incursion in the Library which was presented by Koob the StoryKeeper. They heard many exciting stories which were inspired from myths and legends from around the world. The performer cleverly used expressive narration, masks, costumes, comedy and drama to deliver his dramatic tales. The show was created to promote books, reading, creativity and using the imagination. The students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thank you to Mrs Le Dan for arranging this event.

Speak Up
This week Sam Floate and Eva Hill continued their experience participating in the Speak Up competition. They competed in the next level and after delivering very convincing speeches were both selected to go through to the Preliminary Finals. Congratulations to both students.

EARLY CHILDHOOD
Better Beginnings Program
This week the Pre Primary students had a lovely morning visiting the Cambridge Library. This initiative is being supported by the State Library of WA who are working with schools, families and the community to build links to support the love of reading and literacy development in young children. Children love stories and the more they have the opportunity to be read to and eventually read themselves, the greater the learning and enjoyment. More information can be found here.
