From the Head of Primary - Week 3

Lavalla Campus - Book Week 2014 – Connect to Reading!

Week 5 is Book Week – a time when we celebrate everything ‘books’!

In the lead up to Book Week, on Monday 11 August, all students will attend a show at school called the Story Keeper which is performed by Arena, an independent Western Australian Theatre Company.

On Monday 18 August, all students are invited to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character and we will be having a parade at the morning assembly.

The students have already been asked to be creative, but to keep their costumes simple. Please don’t feel that you need to buy or hire a costume, but instead to bring together existing items from their wardrobe, or they could borrow some clothing from a family member or friend.

Can I please ask that your child/children also bring along the book in which their character is featured?

Some ideas of book characters are:
The Cat in the Hat, Thing 1 and Thing 2 (from the Cat in the Hat), Harry Potter or Hermione Grainger
Geronimo Stilton, Pippi Longstocking , Dorothy (from the Wizard of OZ), Wally/Waldo (from where’s Wally), Judy Moody, Zac Power, a character from the popular Roald Dahl novels or absolutely any other book character!

Jocelyn Hansen, Head of Primary
