Astronomy Field Night

As part of the College's National Science Week activities, students and their families (Pre K-12) are invited to attend an Astronomy Night on Tuesday 16 August.

The evening will commence with a 30 minute presentation from Richard Tonello (Director/ Astronomer of AES) in the Marist Auditorium.
We will then head outside to the 4 telescopes where Richard will conduct a 10min laser guided tour of the night sky, highlighting constellations, planets (if available) and satellites (if flying over).
Students/family members will then have the opportunity to look through the telescopes, each of which is pointed at a different target. Richard will walk around explaining what people are looking at through the scope and answer any questions they may have.
Tea, coffee and a light supper will also be available.
The evening will commence at 7.00pm and finish at approximately 9.30pm.
Please complete and return the relevant permission slip prior to the event pdfNewman Astronomy Night Letter and Permission Slip
