ACC Swimming Carnival Results

ACC Swimming Carnival Results

Thank you to all students who competed and were reserves for Tuesday's ACC Swimming Carnival. It is not just the swimmers on the day but the whole squad (including reserves) who encourage and drive each other at training and competition. Their contribution plays a significant role in the success of any team.
Newman finished the day in fourth position overall. This was a little disappointing having set our goals higher but we were beaten by better Schools on the day.
There were many standout individual performances. The best being Tatenda Makova Yr 7 with two firsts and a second in Division 1 Freestyle, Breastroke and Butterfly. Ryley Verco Yr 9 achieved the most competition points for the School with high finishes in Division 1 Freestyle, Breastroke, Butterfly and Backstroke. Lewis Margaria Yr 8 was outstanding, collecting the second highest number of points for the School and along the way winning the Division 1 50m Freestyle. Amy Wylde Yr 11 and Jessica Sandford Yr 7 were our best performers in the girls, accruing the most number of competition points.
Victory in the Boys Division 1 Freestyle Relay (Matthew Armstrong, Hamish Turner, Liam Connolly and Matthew Matar) was the standout result in all of our Relay events.
Thank you to our Swim Coach Sam Schifferli and well done to all team members for their dedication and commitment to training over the term. Special thanks to all parents for getting your children to early morning training and for your continued support of the College Swimming Program.
Matt Connell, Head of Sport
