ACC Swimming Carnival Highlights

Congratulations to the whole Newman College Swim Team who performed brilliantly all day at yesterday's ACC Swimming Carnival to come in second place. Well done to St Stephens who were the overall Carnival winners. It was an outstanding team effort bringing together 7 weeks of intensive training. Everyone should be very proud of their efforts.

There were many outstanding individual performances, however it was in the relays where Newman College outperformed all schools reinforcing our strong sense of team spirit. The highlight of the day was watching our U19 Div 1 Boys Relay Team, in their last swim for our school, storm home to win the last event of the day in near record time. It was a great way to finish a very memorable day.
Congratulations to our best performers;
Ben Nowrojee - 1st U13 Champion Boy
Tatenda Makova - 2nd U14 Champion Boy
Amy Wylde - 3rd U17 Champion Girl
Matt Armstrong - 4th U19 Champion Boy
Thank you to Newman Swim Club Head Coach Mark Saggers and Phys Ed staff for all of their work with the team. Thank you to the maintenance team for the fantastic job they do in keeping our pool one of the best in Perth and a pleasure to train in. We are very fortunate to have such quality facilities.
It was also great to see our section of the stand filled with Yr 7 spectators. It was greatly appreciated by our athletes.
In developing a stronger link with the Newman Churchlands Swim Club we hope to take it to the next level and go one better next year.
Matt Connell, Head of Sport
