ACC Cross Country Results and Highlights

A committed team performance saw Newman College finish 6th out of 60 Schools in Thursday’s ACC Cross Country Carnival held at Perry Lakes. A top 10 result is a great reward for 9 weeks of disciplined training on the track. Our girls (3km) and boys (4km) pushed themselves to their limits and all should be very proud of their efforts.
Thank you to our coaches Ben Chamberlain and Trent Criddle (Newman College Old Boys) who did a fantastic job preparing our squad physically and mentally for the rigours of the event.
Although the focus is on team, it is important to acknowledge some outstanding individual efforts;
Ellie Jones Yr 7 14th
Stella Huggins Yr 7 18th
Blake Hamilton Yr 7 39th
Holli Johnson Yr 8 4th
Thomas Ariti Yr 8 3rd
Thomas Hacker Yr 8 13th
Kyla Geneff Yr 9 24th
Lachlan Chamberlain Yr 9 5th
Rebecca Viney Yr 10 17th
Michail Muller Yr 10 16th

Thank you to all Physical Education staff who assisted on the day and to all parents for their continued support of the College’s Athletic program. Co-Curricula Sport gives your children opportunities to commit to a team, pursue excellence and overcome setbacks. Resiliency is not a personality trait or behavioral style. Resiliency is a skill anyone can learn and a critical component of well being.
We look forward to the last of our Big 3 Sporting events, the ACC Athletics Carnival to be held late in Term 3.
Matt Connell, Head of Sport
